CELEBRATE good times, c'mon!

Weekly Blog

June 2, 2019

OK so we had lots to celebrate this week...where do we start?

As you might already know, we had a few students come in from The Hong Kong Institute of Education to observe our classrooms and our teaching styles. For the whole week, they were able to talk to our facilitators and foster their learning of the our teaching methods. We were very happy to have them and we hope that they can one day bring forward what they have learnt at Mulberry Tree into their own classrooms. Here is a beautiful heartfelt letter written by one of the students:

The students and our facilitators...

Also, we would like to congratulate our Nature Leader, Marnick Vanelslander for achieving the Level 3 Practitioner Award from Forest Schools Education. We are very proud of his achievement and we can't wait to see all the exciting activities he has in store for us! Hip hip? HOORAY!

So, after gathering all the ingredients from the market last week - we finally got to make our very own sticky rice dumplings and try them out too! The whole process was so much fun for the kids and they were super proud to take their sticky dumplings home to share with family and friends. Hope you enjoyed eating them as much as we had making them!

We also celebrated a few birthdays this week and thanks to the birthday celebrants, our tummies were filled with delicious birthday goodies! From their individually-prepared slideshows, we got to see how much our friends have grown! Of course, some children were naturally curious about the ultrasound/pregnancy photos that were showcased!

At Mulberry Tree, it is important that children are given age-appropriate explanations of where they come from - we strive to help our students develop a healthy relationship with the human body and this includes pregnancy. Here is an article describing the benefits of teaching children where they come from and how to go about it: https://www.verywellfamily.com/where-do-babies-come-from-2753608

Since we are on the topic of 'celebration' - we would like to invite all our weekday students to come to our 'Learning Journey Celebration' which is scheduled for the 19th of July, 2019 from 2:30-5:30 @ Hong Lok Yuen (General's Lounge - Teatime buffet). We encourage all our students and their parents (and loved-ones) to participate in this joyous occasion and to reflect on their child's learning experiences here at Mulberry Tree from 2018-2019.

Booking is required for this event - for reservations, please fill in the following form https://forms.gle/crMeksUJmkVggJNA8

Phew! That was a lot to celebrate! Till next week... cheers!
